Intervista con MarCloger

 

 

Marcello Calogero, detto "MarCloger", è un musicista italiano originario di Conegliano Veneto in provincia di Treviso. Ha abbracciato la musica come una compagna di viaggio costante nella sua vita, iniziando il suo viaggio fin dall'infanzia studiando pianoforte classico.

La formazione di MarCloger prosegue con il Rock/Blues e il Pop negli anni '80 e '90 con autoproduzioni, sia come autore che come compositore. Passa poi allo Swing negli anni 2000, con attività di Crooner su standard classici di Frank Sinatra e Michael Bublé. Accompagnato da una Big Band durante le sue esibizioni live, ha pubblicato varie cover conseguendo anche la laurea in Sociologia.

Ripresa l'attività di autore, pubblica il singolo “How Long So Long” (dedicato al defunto padre), con il nome d'arte Marce. Seguirono produzioni pop, “Janet” e “Fidarsi di te”.

Nel 2021 nasce lo pseudonimo "MarCloger" in quanto firma un contratto con l'etichetta discografica Digital Distribution Bundle e inizia un nuovo percorso artistico. Nel 2021 sono usciti i suoi singoli "Lasciaci" e "Volata Via", seguiti da "Immerso ma non perso" nel 2022. Il suo ultimo singolo, "COME ANDRA' A FINIRE", è uscito il 4 settembre 2023.

In "COME ANDRA' A FINIRE", MarCloger affronta il tema degli attuali sconvolgimenti politici e degli scontri con i paesi totalitari, che accadono in tutto il mondo. Il singolo descrive la lucida follia di regimi totalitari determinati a reprimere nel sangue ogni minima manifestazione di libertà, nonché la rinuncia libera e radicale, seppur spesso a rischio della propria vita, a professare una religione imposta per nascita.

Questo intenso brano offre il ritratto di questa situazione drammatica, dal destino incerto e verso la quale, per l'autore, il mondo appare talvolta arreso e disarmato di fronte all'ignoranza intellettuale e morale di chi da secoli non si rende conto di continuare vivere nell'errore.

 

Marcello Calogero, known as "MarCloger," is an Italian musician originally from Conegliano Veneto in the province of Treviso. He has embraced music as a constant traveling companion in his life, starting his journey in childhood studying classical piano.

MarCloger's training continued with Rock/Blues and Pop in the 80s and 90s with self-productions, both as an author and composer. He then switched to Swing in the 2000s, with Crooner activities on classic standards by Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé. Accompanied by a Big Band during his live performances, he released various covers while also obtaining a degree in Sociology.

Having resumed his activity as an author, he published the single, “How Long So Long” (dedicated to his deceased Father), under the stage name Marce. This was followed by pop productions, “Janet,” and “Fidarsi di te.”

In 2021, the pseudonym "MarCloger" was born as he signed a contract with the record label Digital Distribution Bundle and began a new artistic journey. His singles "Lasciaci", and "Volata Via" were released in 2021, followed by "Immerso ma non perso" in 2022. His latest single, "COME ANDRA' A FINIRE," was released on September 4, 2023.

In "COME ANDRA' A FINIRE," MarCloger addresses the topic of the current political upheaval and clashes with totalitarian countries, happening worldwide. The single describes the lucid madness of totalitarian regimes determined to bloodily repress every slightest manifestation of freedom, as well as the free and radical renunciation, albeit often at the risk of one's life, to profess a religion imposed by birth.

This intense piece offers a portrait of this dramatic situation, with an uncertain destiny and towards which, for the author, the world sometimes appears surrendered and disarmed in the face of the intellectual and moral ignorance of those who for centuries have not realized they are continuing to live in error.

What inspired you to become a musician?

 

Studiando musica fin da ragazzino ho potuto pian piano scoprire la dimensione emotiva in cui la musica mi sapeva trasportare, fornendomi ogni volta meravigliose sensazioni di benessere. La ricerca di voler vivere sempre di più questa sensazioni è stata l'ispirazione trainante, ciò che mi ha  ispirato  e spinto a  diventare un musicista in grado di potermi  ricreare da solo queste  emozioni.

 

By studying music since I was a child, I was gradually able to discover the emotional dimension in which music could transport me, providing me with wonderful sensations of well-being every time. The search for wanting to experience these sensations more and more was the driving inspiration, what inspired and pushed me to become a musician capable of recreating these emotions on my own.

Ho iniziato a studiare pianoforte all'età di 8 anni, e da li poi non mi sono più fermato.

 

I started studying piano at the age of 8, and haven't stopped since then.

Una tavolozza di suoni, ritmi, parole ed immagini.

 

 A palette of sounds, rhythms, words and images.

Un po’ ovunque : dai piccoli stadi alle piazze di paese; da alcuni studi televisivi alle radio.

 

Just about everywhere: from small stadiums to town squares; from some television studios to radios.

 

Dov'è il luogo del tuo concerto ideale?

Where would your ideal concert be?

 
Sicuramente il Teatro, luogo per me ideale e dove riesco a raggiungere maggiore interazione col pubblico.

 

Certainly the theatre, an ideal place for me and where I can achieve greater interaction with the public.

Essendo io un compositore melodista, ammiro da sempre il Baronetto Sir Paul McCartney, la cui vena compositiva ci meraviglia fin dagli anni '60.

Being a melody composer myself, I have always admired Baronet Sir Paul McCartney, whose compositional talent has amazed us since the 1960s.

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

 

Ascolta ed impara da tutti, ma alla fine rimani sempre te stesso.

Listen and learn from everyone, but in the end always remain yourself.

 

Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?

If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?

 

Mi piacerebbe che il settore musicale valorizzasse di più le produzioni e le pubblicazioni di qualità, quelle che denotano la reale conoscenza musicale ed autoriale. Certamente il talento è importante, ma anche premiare lo studio ed il duro lavoro che il musicista porta sulle spalle.

Mi piacerebbe che cercasse di  "educare" di più - soprattutto i giovani ascoltatori - ad apprezzare e capire cosa si intende veramente quando si parla di  "Buona Musica"; anche se ciò può significare per il settore sacrificare qualcosa in termini commerciali di breve termine, quello che è in pericolo è l'Arte del domani, il futuro della Musica quella con M maiuscola, ed in questo, soprattutto le Major, quelle che "fanno" e condizionano il settore musicale, hanno ed avranno una  responsabilità  sempre più grande.
 

I would like the music sector to give more value to quality productions and publications, those that denote real musical and authorial knowledge. Talent is certainly important, but also rewarding the study and hard work that the musician carries on his shoulders.

I would like it to try to "educate" more - especially young listeners - to appreciate and understand what we really mean when we talk about "Good Music"; even if this may mean for the sector to sacrifice something in short-term commercial terms, what is in danger is the Art of tomorrow, the future of Music with a capital M, and in this, above all the Majors, those that "do " and influence the music sector, they have and will have an increasingly greater responsibility.

Faccio musica da sempre perché me lo chiede la mia anima, ma se ascoltarla può far bene anche alla vostra, come non esserne felice?
