Intervista con Listo

 

 

Il cantante Alessandro Simonetti, detto "Listo", e il produttore Gaetano Puca, detto "Puccia", sono artisti italiani che hanno iniziato la loro carriera nella scena musicale tarantina in Puglia.
 
Da sempre affascinato dalla musica, Listo ha iniziato a scrivere testi originali e a prendere lezioni di canto dopo anni di studio del pianoforte. In quel periodo Puccia stava emergendo nel mondo della produzione musicale. Pur frequentando la stessa scuola e frequentando gli stessi ambienti sociali, i due iniziano a lavorare insieme su progetti dal sound pop alternativo.
 
Nel 2023 Listo e Puccia firmano con l'etichetta discografica Digital Distribution Bundle e pubblicano i nuovi singoli "Volare via" a maggio, e più recentemente "Dentro i tuoi occhi", uscito il 4 agosto.

"Dentro i tuoi occhi", racconta la storia di un viaggio nello spazio. Nonostante tutti i pericoli dello spazio e le incertezze che si diffondono nella mente del protagonista, l'unica cosa che riesce a provare è la forte nostalgia per una ragazza rimasta sulla Terra. Impossibile interrompere la missione, questa canzone diventa un telegramma inviato dallo spazio alla Terra, per rassicurare la ragazza che un giorno si rincontreranno e per farle capire quanto sia importante per lui.

 

Singer Alessandro Simonetti, known as "Listo," and producer Gaetano Puca, known as "Puccia," are Italian artists who began their careers in the musical scene around Taranto in Puglia.
 
Always fascinated by music, Listo began writing original lyrics and taking singing lesson after years of studying the piano. During that period, Puccia was emerging into the world of music production. While attending the same school and being in the the same social circles, the two begin working together on projects with an alternative pop sound.
 
In 2023, Listo and Puccia signed with the record label Digital Distribution Bundle and released the new singles, "Volare via" in May, and most recently "Dentro i tue occhi," released August 4.

"Dentro i tue occhi," conveys the story of a journey through space. Despite all the dangers of space and the uncertainties that spread in the protagonist's mind, the only thing he can feel is the strong nostalgia for a girl left on Earth. Unable to interrupt the mission, this song becomes a telegram sent from space to Earth, to reassure the girl that one day they will meet again and to make her understand how important she is to him.

Cosa ti ha ispirato a diventare un musicista?

What inspired you to become a musician?

 

Ho sempre amato la musica, è la mia più grande passione ed ossessione. Le sensazioni che provo quando canto o suono, sono qualcosa di estremamente sovrannaturale ed inspiegabile. La musica funge da terapia ed aiuta a far uscire una parte emotiva che, nella vita di tutti i giorni, nasconderei. Sicuramente anche l’influenza dei grandi artisti sull’umore delle persone e sulla società è uno dei fattori che mi ha ispirato a voler intraprendere questa strada.

 

I have always loved music, it is my greatest passion and obsession. The sensations I feel when I sing or play are something extremely supernatural and inexplicable. Music acts as therapy and helps to bring out an emotional part that, in everyday life, I would hide. Certainly the influence of great artists on people's mood and on society is also one of the factors that inspired me to want to take this path.

 

Quanti anni avevi quando hai iniziato a suonare?

How old were you when you started playing (music)?

 

Ho iniziato a studiare pianoforte a 10 anni, presso il corso musicale della mia scuola media. Da allora l’interesse per la musica è cresciuto in maniera esponenziale, iniziando a suonare altri strumenti, a studiare canto, fino alla scrittura di brani inediti.

 

I started studying piano at the age of 10, in the music course of my middle school. Since then, his interest in music has grown exponentially, starting to play other instruments, studying singing, and even writing unreleased songs.  

 

Come descriveresti la tua musica?

How would you describe your music?

 

La mia musica è letteralmente la parte emotiva e filosofica del mio subconscio tradotta in note, i miei interessi come la fisica, la filosofia e l’astronomia hanno libero sfogo nella mia musica. Permettendomi così di creare diverse storie e concept che si aprono a tutto. Se dovessi usare degli aggettivi, la definirei “spaziale” o “aliena”.

 

My music is literally the emotional and philosophical part of my subconscious translated into notes, my interests such as physics, philosophy and astronomy have free rein in my music. Thus allowing me to create different stories and concepts that open up to everything. If I had to use adjectives, I would define it as “spatial” or “alien.”

 

Dove ti sei esibito?

Where have you performed? 

 

Ho avuto il piacere di esibirmi in diverse serate più o meno importanti, sia come tastierista/pianista, sia come cantante. Ho suonato e cantato a piccoli festival locali; ho aperto il concerto a Venerus e continuo sempre a voler fare esperienza live per crescere e migliorare artisticamente.

 

I had the pleasure of performing on several more or less important evenings, both as a keyboard player/pianist and as a singer. I played and sang at small local festivals; I opened the concert in Venerus and I always continue to want to gain live experience to grow and improve artistically.

 

Dov'è il luogo del tuo concerto ideale?

Where would your ideal concert be?

 

Avendo descritto la mia musica come aliena e spaziale, ovviamente vorrei un luogo immerso nella natura, senza inquinamento luminoso con solo un palco, un impianto, un microfono e le stelle.

 

Having described my music as alien and spacey, obviously I would like a place surrounded by nature, without light pollution with just a stage, a system, a microphone and the stars.

 

Qual è la tua canzone preferita da esibire?

What is your favorite song to perform?

 

Varia a periodi, in base al mood e quello che voglio esprimere, ma sicuramente “Dentro ai tuoi occhi” e “Volare via” sono i due singoli che più mi soddisfano, in quanto è sempre bello vedere le persone prese dalla musica che fa ballare.
 

It varies at times, based on the mood and what I want to express, but certainly “Dentro ai tue occhi” and “Volare via” are the two singles that satisfy me the most, as it is always nice to see people taken by the music that makes you dance.

 

Quali musicisti celebri ammiri?

Which famous musicians do you admire?

 

Ammiro diversi artisti di diverso genere: nel panorama italiano sicuramente ammiro voci come Gemitaiz, Ghemon, Neffa, ma anche cantautorato come De Andrè e Bennato. Nel panorama estero sicuramente non posso non nominare artisti dalla quale prendo molta influenza musicale come The Weeknd, Post Malone, ma anche Powfu, Kanye, fino ad arrivare a Queen, Rolling stones e la mia personale band preferita, i Beatles. Tutti questi artisti hanno moltissime qualità per la quale li ammiro, ma il mio artista preferito rimane e rimarrà sempre Tupac, non per il genere rap, che assolutamente apprezzo, bensì per la concezione rivoluzionaria di società, musica ed umanità.

 

 I admire several artists of different genres: in the Italian scene I certainly admire voices like Gemitaiz, Ghemon, Neffa, but also singer-songwriters like De Andrè and Bennato. In the foreign panorama, I certainly cannot fail to mention artists from whom I take a lot of musical influence such as The Weeknd, Post Malone, but also Powfu, Kanye, up to Queen, Rolling Stones and my personal favorite band, the Beatles. All these artists have many qualities for which I admire them, but my favorite artist remains and will always remain Tupac, not for the rap genre, which I absolutely appreciate, but for the revolutionary conception of society, music and humanity.

 

Qual è il miglior consiglio che ti è stato dato?

What is the best advice you’ve been given?

 

Il miglior consiglio che mi è stato dato è quello di non sentirsi mai arrivati, di avere sempre la mente aperta e dare una chance a chiunque di esprimere il proprio parere e di dimostrare quello che ha da dare, senza dover per forza farsi condizionare dalla critica, ma l’importante è ascoltarla e testarla prima di dire sì o no.

 

The best advice I was given is to never feel like you have arrived, to always have an open mind and give anyone a chance to express their opinion and demonstrate what they have to offer, without necessarily having to be influenced by criticism , but the important thing is to listen to it and test it before saying yes or no.

 

Se potessi cambiare qualcosa nel settore della musica, quale sarebbe?

If you could change something about the Music Industry, what would it be?

 

Sicuramente la concezione della musica come industria puntata al mercato, al successo ed al denaro, piuttosto che industria artistica. Ci sono e continueranno ad esserci artisti che portano in alto il concetto del “l’arte per l’arte”, ma sicuramente in questo periodo si è arrivati a pensare più alla monetizzazione ed al marketing della canzone, piuttosto che alla canzone stessa.

 

Certainly the conception of music as an industry aimed at the market, success and money, rather than an artistic industry. There are and will continue to be artists who raise the concept of "art for art's sake", but certainly in this period we have come to think more about the monetization and marketing of the song, rather than the song itself.

 

Qual è un messaggio che vorresti dare ai tuoi fan?

What is a message you would like to give to your fans?

 

La mia musica parla di auto-miglioramento, di successi e fallimenti, di viaggi che ti permettono di crescere e di sperimentare la vita in tutte le sue forme. Quindi il mio messaggio è: fate arte, fate quello che vi piace e fatelo con passione. Non importa dove tutto questo vi condurrà, la vita è troppo corta per non prendere rischi. Siate felici e soddisfatti, anche delle esperienze negative, in quanto formative. Così da potervi guardare indietro un giorno e pensare:” ho fatto la scelta giusta”.

 

My music is about self-improvement, about successes and failures, about journeys that allow you to grow and experience life in all its forms. So my message is: make art, do what you like and do it with passion. No matter where all this takes you, life is too short not to take risks. Be happy and satisfied, even with negative experiences, as they are formative. So that you can look back one day and think: "I made the right choice."

What’s next for you?

 

Io ed il mio Produttore Puccia stiamo lavorando ad un album, che includerà anche i due ultimi singoli. Questo album parlerà di un viaggio nello spazio, alla ricerca di un posto dove poter essere noi stessi e dove poter scrivere da zero le regole della società, per creare un mondo utopico basato sul mettere ognuno al posto che vuole ricoprire, sfruttando il potenziale di tutti, al meglio. La ricerca e la fondazione del mondo perfetto.

 

My producer Puccia and I are working on an album, which will also include the two latest singles. This album will be about a journey into space, looking for a place where we can be ourselves and where we can write the rules of society from scratch, to create a utopian world based on putting everyone in the place they want to fill, exploiting everyone's potential , to the best. The search and foundation of the perfect world.
